Hello Troop 83!

I certainly hope the summertime brought you good health and lots of relaxation!  I know mine was busy with Philmont, summer camp and time with the family.

Once again, though, it is time to get back to school and the start of another Scouting year!

I am stepping down as Scoutmaster of Troop 83.  It has been an adventurous three years as the Scoutmaster!  I have lots of great memories from trips we have taken, things we have accomplished. I have done things I never would have done these last few years had it not been for the activities we did.   I have seen a lot of growth in the Scouts, both those that were in the Troop when I first came in as well as the newer Scouts we have brought in over the years.  Keep up the great work!  I am grateful to the Troop committee for the support I have had in the program we put together and carried out for the Scouts.  I also appreciate the contributions from the parents, those running committees, parents going on trips, merit badge counselors and all of other things that you get done to make our program what it is today.  Thank you for trusting me with your sons and the opportunity to be Scoutmaster.

Mr. Dave McFadden will be taking over as Scoutmaster.  Mr. McFadden has been an Assistant Scoutmaster now for a couple of years and is familiar with the Scouts and our organization.  On behalf of the committee, the Scouts and parents, welcome Mr. McFadden!!  I look forward to working with Mr. McFadden as he transitions into his new position in the Troop.

First Troop Meeting

The first Troop meeting of the year will be on Monday, September 13th, starting at 7:00p at Lionville Community Church.

Scouts should be dressed in Class B uniforms, the Troop T shirts.

We have important Troop business to take care of at the meeting:  electing a Senior Patrol Leader!  Please come and cast your vote.

September Trip

The monthly trip is scheduled for September 17th through the 19th at French Creek State Park.  We are looking for an adult to organize and run this trip!  If you are able to run this trip, please send let us know!

Church Cleanup

I received a note from Pastor Macking that the church will be holding a cleanup day on Saturday, September 11th starting at 9:00 am.  I know this is a lot earlier than we normally schedule the Fall cleanup, but nonetheless this is an opportunity to once again come out and show our support for our chartering organization!  A list of items to be worked on will be sent out soon.

Troop Gear

As we were packing up the gear for Summer Camp I noticed a couple of pieces of gear were missing.  If you have ANY Troop gear from either a Troop trip or Philmont, please bring it to the meeting on September 13th.  We will need the gear for the trip to French Creek!
